Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Has to be one of the worst VA clinic's in the U.S.A. A disgrace.
It's just a one Doctor clinic in a small of the beaten path, If you want top notch health care then move to a big city where those facilities are located. When tests or services are required I have always been sent to Albakirki or El Paso without issue. Don't downgrade a clinic just because it isn't the Mayo Clinic.
Just had my first visit to the VA Clinic Alamogordo and will never return there. I wanted to come back into the VA Healthcare system for several reasons, and had all my records with me so they would know why and what was going on. After spending some time there with a (PA ?) i scheduled my next appointment and left. The next day I called back about some issues that were discussed at appointment, and no one knew what I was talking about. I asked them to look at the records I gave to them, no one knew where they were or what happened to them. In all fairness, my issues were urgent, but urgency is a word the VA doesn't comprehend. In any event, I learned that this facility is contracted with the VA, so actually a third party vendor looking to make a buck from the government at the expense of veterans who need services.
I could tell how important my issues were to them within 48 hours of my visit. But I'll bet anything that the bill for my visit was submitted right on time, I'm sure that's something they comprehend just fine.
I have been going to this clinic for several years. It has been seriously dropping in ability and actual care. I had an appointment with the Dr. in March and we agreed on he doing several things, 1. Blood Clot test in legs, 2. A letter to move to a lower elevation, 3. Get a prescription for COPD in place, (a 7 month quest by me because it increases blood oxygen by 4 or 5 points). He agreed, but nurse told me he knew nothing about it. This type of situation has repeated frequently. BEWARE
VERY NICE STAFF! BUT! Horrible for veterans, starting with the fact that the services offered here are very very limited to the veterans that live in this even worse rural town known as Alamogordo. It has regular business hours (M-F 0800-1630 Closed on Holidays) so in truth, it isn't a hospital or facility that is equipped to handle anything serious, wether mental or physical, even if this place (next to the town's shopping mall; that tells you a lot, huh?) is even open when you really need it. Most times you just end up at the local hospital (Gerald Champion Memorial) which I should also mention is a WAAAAYYY UNDERSKILLED and more or less lazy Hospital, that has faced many civil lawsuits due to malpractice, and on top of it all, also a bunch of crooks at that. THERE ARE VERY SERIOUS problems with veterans not getting proper healthcare in the Alamogordo (and the surrounding) area(s).
No REAL VA Hospital ANYWHERE CLOSE! , not enough doctors, not enough qualified doctors in certain areas or expertise in helpful medicine(s), the only facility we have is more of a business than a medical center, and many many more issues, but the worst is the Veterans Choice Program. The program ISN'T contracted with most of the local medical establishments. Honestly!? We wrote a blank check with our life (some unfortunatley cashed that check) for this country by imbedding ourselves into a dirty, dangerous, unpopular, very emotionally taxing war, and this is the promised medical treatment we deserve to recieve? Sad...
Nice Little clinic, haven't been here much cause the Covid19 Pandemic stuff. Protocols are in place and helps ease my worries about catching the virus there.
The VA system is over loaded, but these guys and gals work miracles with that they have. Bravo!
Please let go the receptionist on the left going in. She has been rude on many occasions. She has small town grandeur syndrome.
If she is not fired I will contact the governor. Very rude. She does not need a seat to be handling veterans.
This is a small clinic but is capable of doing blood tests. I read others comments and can only think that thisis not an ER or a hospital. It's no differant than any small town clinic. You want more move to a big city.
This is the worst VA clinic I have ever been to. Toxic employees here.
Great staff very helpful yes limited but it's a clinic. They helpful for me.
They try but seriously feel like they don t care about your health and pain.
