There's something promising, even inspiring, about walking the aisles of the Alameda Natural Grocery. Always an interesting selection of products, from the dark chocolates to the spices, from the fresh fruits and veggies to the canned alternatives. All the coffee beans.

There's something grounding about seeing the prices; I'm frequently stopped short midway through reaching for something by the vanity or convenience margin added. Fresh, organic, and even exotic items are available everywhere, at competitive prices, so the ANG needs to step up their game.

There's great possibility here, but without the prices to match. I'll keep returning, getting those things which just can't be found elsewhere in the area, but it'll take a lot to make ANG my first shopping stop.

If I had unlimited funds I would shop here for pretty much everything I needed. The open air market with a decent bulk section, decent produce, decent spices, and a great varied milk/dairy section as well as plenty of veggie options and labeled locally produced food makes this a place to lust after.

I can't afford to make this my everyday shopping venue - yet - but maybe someday. The staff has always been friendly. Park street is great and this is a vital part of why it is a vibrant area.

We sometimes go here exclusively for a good selection of produce, bulk bins and milk in refundable glass bottles. Everything else is way too expensive. Also lots of products are packaged in plastic just like Trader Joe's or any other grocery store, but sold at a much higher price.

Cashier named Tarryn was rude. Chatting with another employee while I was waiting in front of her. Did not apologize for having me wait. And when I asked a question she gave me a very sassy attitude while answering with sarcasm.

This place is pricey, otherwise I 'd give it 5. They have excellent vitamins and supplements, small but varied and high quality fruits and vegetables, meh for meat and cheese, and many nice little things for housecleaning.

As a grocery store, it's OK - their fruit and veggies are good quality, but prices are very high. For anything packaged, I'm recommend going elsewhere.

The main draw of this place is the shops inside - they have a bakery, a butchers counter, and a cheese & wine shop. All three are high priced, but excellent quality; the bakery in particular does delicious loaves of bread, and they have a great variety.

Note that the bakery has coffee and an espresso machine, but don't waste your time, it's not very good. At the other end of the store is a coffee shop which is much, much better. If you're looking for some sort of breakfast item like a croissant or pastry, get that at the bakery and get coffee at the Beanery.

Oh my goodness! So not use to good customer service like this store. Mark in produce is full of smiles and valuable information. I walked down two aisles and employees greeted me with genuine smiles and offerings of service. I was pleasantly delighted. Store offers a lot of organic options. I will definitely return. Whole Foods has competition.

I was expecting a lot more based on the reviews, but the prices, selection and services all left more to be desired. The produce that we did buy was "organic" but besides that over-hyped selling point it was all small, lacked flavor (almost all of the fruits) and very limited in selection. During the check-out, the guy working the register REALLY seemed like he didn't want to be there. I won't be going back here.

Despite the somewhat small shop floorspace, Alameda Natural Grocery seems to provide just about all my needs. And, surprisingly, you won't find Clover organic whole milk for a better price anywhere else on the island.

This small grocery store is amazing and a favorite in Alameda. The produce, bulk items, beer selection, cold items and freezer areas are all awesome. Best of all you can get in and out in under 15 minutes!

The Alameda Natural Grocery is an amazing market, also famous for keeping beehives on the rooftop. The classic old Ford dealership building is home to this market and several other smaller shops complementary of the grocery store.

The people were friendly and very helpful. It was inspiring to see people as busy as their bees, stocking shelves as quickly as shoppers were gathering produce and more. ;)

Very willing-to-help staff is knowledgeable about products they carry. Do get a receipt though as I purchased nori without checking the source which was China. I don't want to eat Chinese-made foods so my mistake--I will try to return...will see how it turns out.

Such a cute little grocery store tucked in the Marketplace with other fun food shops. Their selection isn't super big and can be a little pricey compared to other places (ie. Farmer Joe's). The staff is always very friendly, it makes grocery trips that much better.
