Alameda Family Physicians Review

I have been going to Alameda Family Physicians for about 3 years now and have been very pleased. I am seeing Dr. Edward I. Chan, who is friendly, and is very good about answering questions and explaining things.

Their front desk answers calls fairly quickly, and are polite and helpful. They are also using a system where you can get test results and send and receive messages to your doctor online. Dr. Chan answers my questions within a day at most.

Overall I am very satisfied with my doctor and the office.

My wife and I do not recommend Alameda Family Physicians/Stanford Health because of their shady "new patient" fee practices. The facility did not disclose there would be a new patient fee to either of us when we called to make an appointment nor when we arrived for the appointment and checked in. After the appointments, we each got a bill and saw we were both charged a $441 new patient fee that our insurance nominally covered. We each separately saw the doctor for about 20 minutes and met with staff for maybe about 20 more minutes. How does this level of service merit $882? Neither of us have ever been charged a new patient fee with a doctor previously and never thought to inquire. Make sure you ask them about every charge. The office was nice, Dr Eichel was fine, but their billing is extortionist and unyielding.

I'm updating this review as after many months of back and forth with many people at Stanford Health, Dr Eichel waived the extra new patient charge. Most recently, I had to go back for an immunization and again the office was incredibly nice and the nursing staff wonderful but be aware of that initial hefty fee. I will upgrade my stars to 2 since they waived the fee but it took about 3 months to do so with a lot of reaching out on my end.

I called to make an appointment just now and both people who I talked in the phone were rude and seemed like they didn t wanna help me out . I told them my insurance said they were in network and they didn t seem to care or try to figured out instead she hang up on me without giving me the chance of asking them to look me up . Horrible customer service .

Just called this office this morning here in Alameda and their receptionist are very rude and unprofessional with no customer service skills!!! I wanted to make an appointment to this facility which is the same facility in Pleasanton! Hoping to get a visit cause I had just moved to Alameda. Just unprofessional period and rude.

I will give just one example illustrative of my pleasure. On Thursday through the portal I asked if my doctor gives certain innoculations.
Two hours later I received a phone call and was told "yes" and did I want to schedule for the next day ? I said yes and was seen on Friday.

Great, friendly, helpful staff. Doctor's are usually running on time, so no long waits! They're usually able to squeeze you in when you need it, and thank goodness for a doctor's office that is open Saturday mornings!

Receptionist is so unprofessional! Please hire people that loves their job NOT need it. We patients are already sick and miserable, we don t need to be dealing with unhappy people over the counter . Please train the front desk the importance of having a good attitude when they are helping patients. You failed terribly today, hopefully you get this message and I ll see a change for the better next time I come around.

I have never been treated like a person at this place. Reception just hung up on me as I attempted to connect with the dr. who I had a virtual meeting with but could not due to their website not working correctly. So now I'm sure I'll be charged for missing this appointment and have to pay for it.

Terrible customer service. Called to make a follow-up appointment and was told to call back another day to schedule, after being taken back the receptionist said she could help assist but needed me to be quick. Customer service was the worst I ve ever had at a doctors office.
