Adarsh Charitable Trust: Empowering Differently-Abled Children
Adarsh Charitable Trust, known as Adarsh, had its humble beginning with 7 differently abled children at a hired premise from June 1998 and came a long way of providing education, training, and rehabilitation services to over 500 children with disabilities. The trust is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950 and is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra.
Adarsh's mission is to empower differently-abled children by providing them with quality education, vocational training, medical care, and rehabilitation services. The trust believes that every child has the right to live a dignified life irrespective of their physical or mental abilities.
The trust operates through various programs such as Early Intervention Program (EIP), Special Education Program (SEP), Vocational Training Program (VTP), Residential Care Program (RCP), Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP), and Medical Care Program (MCP).
The EIP program focuses on identifying developmental delays in infants and toddlers up to three years old. The SEP program provides special education for children aged between three to eighteen years old. The VTP program offers vocational training for adolescents aged between sixteen to twenty-five years old. The RCP program provides residential care facilities for children who require long-term care due to severe disabilities or lack of family support. The CBRP program aims at integrating differently-abled individuals into mainstream society through community-based rehabilitation activities such as awareness campaigns, skill development workshops, etc. Lastly, the MCP program provides medical care facilities such as physiotherapy sessions, speech therapy sessions, occupational therapy sessions along with regular health check-ups.
Adarsh also runs an inclusive school named "Snehankit Vidyalaya" which caters to both mainstream students and differently-abled students under one roof. This school follows an inclusive education model where all students are treated equally and provided with equal opportunities to learn and grow.
The trust has a team of dedicated professionals such as special educators, vocational trainers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, doctors, nurses, and caretakers who work tirelessly to provide the best possible care for the children. The trust also has a strong network of volunteers who contribute their time and skills towards various activities such as fundraising events, awareness campaigns, etc.
Adarsh's impact on society is immense.
