ActionQuest: The Ultimate Summer Adventure Experience
Are you looking for a summer adventure that will leave you with unforgettable memories and new skills? Look no further than ActionQuest, the premier provider of summer adventure camps focused on sailing, scuba diving, marine biology, and community service.
Founded in 1976 by Mike and Laura Gainey, ActionQuest has been providing life-changing experiences to teenagers from around the world for over four decades. With a focus on experiential learning and personal growth, our programs are designed to challenge participants physically, mentally, and emotionally while fostering teamwork and leadership skills.
Sailing Programs
Our sailing programs are the cornerstone of ActionQuest's offerings. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or have never set foot on a boat before, we have a program that will suit your needs. Our fleet of sailboats ranges from 50-foot yachts to small dinghies, allowing us to offer programs for all skill levels.
Our flagship program is the Caribbean Advanced Sailing program (CAR), which takes place aboard our fleet of 50-foot yachts in the British Virgin Islands. Participants learn advanced sailing techniques while exploring some of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean.
For those just starting out with sailing or looking to improve their skills in a more relaxed environment, we offer several other programs such as Introductory Sailing (INTRO), Caribbean Seamanship & Leadership (CSL), and Mediterranean Sailing & Scuba (MED).
Scuba Diving Programs
If you're interested in exploring what lies beneath the surface of the ocean, our scuba diving programs are perfect for you. We offer courses ranging from beginner open water certification all the way up to divemaster training.
Our flagship scuba program is Caribbean Marine Biology (CMB), which combines scuba diving with hands-on marine biology research projects. Participants work alongside professional scientists studying coral reefs and other marine ecosystems while earning their PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications.
Other scuba programs we offer include Caribbean Marine Ecology (CME), which focuses on marine conservation and sustainability, and Mediterranean Marine Biology (MMB), which takes place in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Marine Biology Programs
For those interested in marine biology but not necessarily interested in scuba diving, we offer several land-based programs that focus on marine ecology and conservation. Our flagship program is Caribbean Marine Ecology (CME), which takes place on the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.
Participants work alongside professional scientists studying coral reefs, sea turtles, and other marine life while learning about topics such as oceanography, marine conservation, and sustainability. Other land-based programs we offer include Tropical Marine Biology & Conservation (TMB) in Costa Rica and Galapagos: Wildlife & Conservation (GAL) in Ecuador.
Community Service Programs
At ActionQuest, we believe that giving back to the communities we visit is an important part of our mission. That's why all of our programs include a community service component where participants work on projects such as beach cleanups or building schools or community centers.
Our flagship community service program is Caribbean Service Adventure (CSA), which takes place on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Participants work with local organizations to improve infrastructure and provide support for underserved communities while also participating in sailing or scuba diving activities.
Other community service programs we offer include Costa Rica: Service & Sustainability (CRS) and Galapagos: Service & Adventure (GSA).
