I underwent proton treatment 3 and a half years ago. The staff were compassionate, caring and professional beyond description. I keep them in my daily prayers as an extension of my family. We interviewed a raft of Proton Therapy Centers throughout the United States before settling on Ackerman. This center was far and away the most responsive initially and during the entire eight weeks of treatment.
Throughout the entire process - from the front office folks, to the weekly meetings with the doctors and nutritionist, to the radiation technicians, to the finance and insurance staff, to the social work team (who helped us find affordable housing and get acclimated to the area), you could not ask for more caring and engaged professionals. The facility itself is immaculate, both clean and welcoming.
As to my own personal journey - it was with extreme reluctance I even considered radiation of any type to treat my cancer (head and neck). I could not get my mind wrapped around "traditional radiation" as a treatment option based on the collateral damage one would incur.
Two and a half years after being diagnosed and trying a variety of other treatments during that time, I heard about Proton Therapy by chance and decided to explore my options. As I said before, my partner and I interviewed a myriad of clinics and immediately settled on the Ackerman Cancer Center once we finished the first phone interview, so impressed were we.
Kudos to this clinic for personalizing the treatment - the staff knew our names after our first visit. They treated me with the utmost respect and caring during the entire process. I never felt like a cog in the wheel, being pushed from place to place as is so common in the medical field today.
This Center provides a whole host of "radiation" related services - not just Proton Therapy. I would strongly recommend/urge that you seek out this facility to have whatever therapy or diagnostic you require. You will find it well worth the time and effort.
Dr. Perkins, Jill, and Alex Are absolutely the best. They made going through radiation so easy and just brought so much love and laughter to my days. Now that treatment is officially over I am going to miss them. Thank goodness for follow up. We got the best experience when I took my mom to the Ackerman cancer center the staff were very friendly Dr.Scot Ackerman was awesome he gave us some good information he had a great sense of humor I would highly recommend anybody to come here!

I initial went to a different facility. For what I was told was the only treatment for me do to heart issues . I decided to call Ackerman just to be sure as I was about to start treatment. From the outhouse to the penthouse . I was being sold on that treatment because its the technology the doctor owned. Ackerman has been flawless so far . Details , on time , I rarely wait for anything including doctors . I see organized, knowledgeable, medical professional and science at work. I got lucky and tripped over them . Dint count on luck . Go visit and you will see the compelling differences.
I highly recommend Ackerman Cancer Center to any one in need to cancer treatments they offer. The doctors, staff and everyone involved there are so very nice, professional and courteous. I have never had such a place where every individual is so very nice. And my follow-up after having protron therapy for breast cancer has been outstanding.
