All Schools have their problems, even that new school that is coming in across town (Rancho Campana). It is also true that this school looks almost like it is about to fall apart any second (this is probably an exaggeration). In addition, transferring to other schools probably will not make your life too much beater, either. As people always say, the grass is always greener on the neighbor's lawn, and when it comes to this great nation's public schools, these lawns are far from perfect no matter were you go (literally and figuratively). To wrap this up, I would just say, it could be beater, and it could be worse.

Coming from a past student: Camarillo High is a Great and fun school. The Academic & Athletic levels are very High. Some may complain about the teachers or staff but everyone has their own opinions. I really opened my eyes to see that they all want you to succeed through hard work. SCORPION PRIDE>CYCLONE
Horrible school with teachers that are bullies to students and they take away the student's inspiration. The classes are too loud and teachers just let the students take out their phones and talk and text.
You guys Are scaring me, Im transferring from Channel Islands High School to camarillo high this year in September, and these reviews have me really worried. ):
High school can be a difficult time for lots of students, so it's not surprising there are some angry and negative reviews here. On the other hand, I had two kids who went to this school recently, between 2004-2010 They both spent all four years here and were involved in sports and took the AP classes; which allowed them to both go into college at advanced levels. The high school staff was similar to many other schools, some very good and some very questionably able to manage classes. Prior to the current principal Mr. Lipman, there was someone unsuited for the job, but she was fired in 2005. Parent involvement also runs the gamut from very-involved to not-at-all involved. I find that the more involved a parent is - the better experience their student will have. Doing things such as going to PTA meetings, where the principal regularly talks to the parents & explains what's going on in the school and the district. Going to Parent Meetings for sports, arts, drama, band, etc. - whatever your kid is interested in- also helps kids (and parents) understand how things are determined, chosen, scored, etc. Also, going to back-to-school nights to meet teachers and get info on class expectations and grading policies and stuff kids may not comprehend in class. I believe how a kid functions in high school is a predictor of how they will function in the larger world, upon graduation. Parents can help, by participation themselves!
Great location, easy on/off the freeway. The employees wear ties, look very professional n makes your dining more pleasurable. Interior is very clean, as are the rest rooms. McDonald's is fast food, but this place makes you feel relaxed.
Some of the reviews this school has gotten are full of crap. They do not slaughter animals, the band is not full of drugs and booze (I am in band myself), kids are prepared to go to college. It is true that some teachers just care about their paycheck, but majority want you to succeed, and unlike Dave, I am proud to have gone to this school. Sean- they allow you to wear hats, just make sure it has the school logo, or if its another logo then make sure to cover it up. I am a senior, and I have to say that this is a good school and I am glad I came here for my high school education.
just an okay school I guess. A lot of bad teachers. But there are a couple very professional, very extraordinary teachers that care about there students and want them to a succeed. There's pros and cons to every school. personally id really like to go to rio instead. for a few reasons. 1 the ASB is just self centered (my opinion) and don't care to much about the other clubs at this school. the asb concerns themselves with sports. ex: Football, basketball, and swimming/ water polo. BUT they forget about the Drama club, Band, Agriculture AND the students. they do celebrate birthdays or 1/2 birthdays. That's Great!!... but please give everyone the birthday buttons. I know it im probably sounding stupid and immature about this but the reason why im saying this is that my Freshman year there was an ASB students birthday in my class and the Asb brought balloons, cake, the button and a banner and just kind of forgot about me. They have missed multiple of my friends birthdays All 4yrs. they have missed 2 of mine so far... I have 2 birthday buttons though but they were form my friends and they felt bad. So over all Some good kids Some bad A lot of bad Teachers but a few good ones.
Turns out my child is having hard time at her new school. She can not grasp the knowledge by the teacher's lessons and is now moving to a better school to have more time to understanding in her classes and have 3 - 4 classes a day.
The Middle Schools in Camarillo are down right terrible. Alot of the Camarillo kids are very uptight and think they're so privileged. There is an exception of the few nice kids there though, I managed to make a strong friendship over the course of three years, IT WAS A VERY LONG THREE YEARS LET ME TELL YOU. But that was just my Middle School experience too, I can only imagine, Camarillo and Oxnard kids together?? I'm so glad I'm not going here, good luck ya'll. (This is my opinion so don't backlash)
