Most of the teachers are fine and do whatever they can to help out students. However, a lot of the worse performing students get left behind in the dust, and it's not uncommon for the less behaved students to not have anything done about them. Additionally, the dress code makes absolutely no sense. Currently, hoodies aren't allowed unless they have the school logo on them, which is an inexplicable and nonsensical 180 from last year's policy, when basically any hoodie was allowed (within reason of course, i.e. nothing vulgar). Even though the school offers iron-on logos, most of us would prefer to not ruin our perfectly good hoodies. Finally, there are a few staff members here (mostly in the high school section) that are overtly passive-aggressive, rude and unfair to students, and are unpleasant to the student body in general. With all due respect, they could use a change of attitude. (Out of respect for them, no naming names or positions.)
btw shout out to the security and the janitors yall dont get paid enough
Wonderful school in CT also a Gold School in National.
Really learned to harness the power of sarcasm to mask my lack of emotion. Thanks AAE! Great school (:
Don't come to this school its horrible you get blamed for things you didn't do there was three fights in one day the principle ran away and now freshman beat up the football coach they spend money on things they will never use and at this point in time its pointless because 2 years from now its gonna get worse you have been warned
They taught me as an adult parent who failed kindergarten to read and write. They did it with old school vhs tapes. It was amazing!
The best school ever, and I know some people would disagree with me, but I say that its the best and has some very helpful, nice, and funny teachers.
Kids smoke pot in the bathroom and the administration doesnt do anything about it but complaim
One of the best schools in CT.. Knowledgeable staff, responsible, attentive, friendly, caring and overall compassionate. My daughter is at her best and feel welcomed with greatness since leaving her environment of New York. The transition was bad enough but AAE made her feel right at home. Thank you to her principal, assistant principal, social workers, nurses, staff members but mainly her teachers. What a great team. Thank you. I would highly recommend this school.
give us no school tmrw plzz i will give 5 stars if we have no school tmrw
This is a wonderful school with a compassionate and caring staff. It is a wonderful place for a student to grow. and learn (P.S. the account below is a false account impersonating me. This account is also posting on the Killingly schools page. I am not sure what the motivation for the posts are, but AAE is clearly a five star school. )
Hi, this school is a really good school. The teachers are so helpful to me and they don't judge about anything and they really get me.. I go to this school now as a student in middle school and its the best. We get to do a lot of projects and the projects aren't even boring there fun while learning and trying to earn a good grade, if you have a 11 year old child and up I suggest you bring them here.
Hey, if you love tires from space, I gotta place for you!
The school is great. It needs to strengthen academic teaching and after school clubs. It is a big problem that the superintendent of CREC doesn't care about school's academic teaching and ranking.
The children there are so disrespectful and rude t others and they say rude comments to guests. I was a superintendent for the CREC District and when I walked into a 12th grade classroom, the kids were throughing papers at each other and me while the teacher was talking. They were talking while the teachers were talking to. Also, the hallways are a mess and the secrity officers always have to remind the kids and janitors to clean te mess up. If I was trying to bring my child to this school, i would have said absolutely not. This school doesnt even diserve a 0.5 in the ratings. THIS SCHOOL IS A NO!!!!
I'm writing this to warn other parents. This school has a lot of issues. To begin with, there is a lot of bullying and sexual harassment that the administration is not willing to address. I would be more than willing to discuss this with any parent that contacts me. Academics are another issue. This year there has been no steady algebra teacher and the kids are not being taught algebra in any consistent way so many students are failing. Many students are actually failing many classes. The administration is cliquey and only cares about the success of a select few of students based on who their parents are. If you send your child here be prepared to spend a lot of time at the building or possibly watch your student flounder and fail or even worse be assaulted while the staff looks the other way.
It'll be a terrible school after the 2019 class graduates. Don't come here, they really spent $4,000 on a desk. Not worth it
Staff communication is sub-par. Teachers are good and helpful to students, but communication staff to staff needs work. Be careful about grades because it's very easy to fall behind and the uniform policy sucks. some people had to buy all new clothes just to keep up, but the school gave up enforcing it a few months, then brought it back for the last 2 months. Long story short if you're considering this school be ready, especial if you're coming from a HPS. The teacher's are probably the best thing about the place.
