A Spice of Life Catering is an incredible company to work with, especially when planning a wedding! Throughout the whole process of working with A Spice of Life I felt confident, reassured and stress free. There is someone always there to talk to when setting up meeting dates and times, or even if you have a simple question. It is especially nice to work with Dawn. She is well informed, dependable, flexible and over all a truly kind, welcoming and genuine person. I don't believe the experience would have been the same without her leading my husband and I every step of the way throughout our wedding planning. Also, on the plus side, their selection of food is spectacular and delicious. There are a plethora of options to choose from to accommodate your food preference and pricing. There are so many positive things to share about A Spice of life Catering, but in the end our wedding turned out beyond words can describe and much of that goes to the hard working staff at A Spice of Life. I hope to work with A Spice of Life in the future and I will truly miss working with them!

Amazing service - attentive, professional, easy to work with!

Our coordinator for our wedding, Jake, was very attentive and easy to work with, even answering after-hours questions via text. The staff that attended our wedding was outstanding and we received many compliments from our guests!

They are always on time, professional and helpful. Displays of food are done very well. Food is good, but temperature sometimes not quite optimal.

I worked at A Spice of Life Catering from May 2016-July 2018 in a variety of different roles. I left Spice to become an event manager at a venue in Denver, and now see such a difference between A Spice of Life and their competition. I wanted to leave an unprompted review on a few ways they stand out:

1. Professionalism: There is an entire team there to help plan the event. The company is departmentalized between event specialists, operations, and chefs. Each group is professional, well-trained and responsible for their area of expertise. When I worked at Spice, I always appreciated the perspective from my Operations Director and Executive Chef to discover potential complications and problem-solve before the event ever took place. Now, as an events manager, I am surprised when caterers show up with no plan in place of how to execute an event - from basic things like where to setup, or the fact that there is no oven on site. These details can be really stressful on site without someone taking ownership in advance, which Spice always does.

2. Food quality: The food does not taste like "catering food." They use high quality ingredients and cook the food on site. The menu creation supports sustainability. This means a slightly limited menu so that the kitchen can reduce waste, and allow for seasonality adaptations.

3. On Site Staff: On site staff are well-trained, fun, hard-working, professional.

4. Zero Waste: This is maybe the biggest surprise since leaving this company. As an events manager at a venue, I am shocked at how much trash and waste is generated from events. Non-recyclable serving ware and general trash can fill a small dumpster from one event. A Spice of Life is a zero waste company which means they divert over 80% of their waste from landfills to compost and recycling. I thought "everyone was doing this," but my experience is that this is actually really rare and special. Spice will bring compost back from events to put it in their own compost bins on site, and take so much responsibility for their impact on the planet.

Other things to note: So much combined experience, so much passion, so much dedication to the company and clients. If you choose A Spice of Life for your event, you will be in good hands.

I talked with multiple caterers for my wedding and ultimately decided on Spice because I could tell they cared about my business and what I wanted. They offered me multiple amenities that no other caterer would, much more affordable menu options, plus were more then willing to negotiate with me to give me the most value and beat out any other caterer offers.

Amanda Ruebl was an amazing event manager. Through scheduling our wedding, hitting corona, and rescheduling our wedding, she was responsive, flexible, and caring about our situation.

Covid: The staff respect the safety of guests by wearing masks and were able to come up with safe ways to serve food without slowing down the flow of the buffet line or hovering around plates. Amanda was very prepared for hosting food for 70 guests while following guidelines.

The food and service on my day was great and I couldn t have asked for a better experience with Spice of life.

We recently got married at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons (Sept 2019). One of the best decisions we made - hands down - throughout the entire wedding planning process was hiring A Spice of Life Catering. They came highly recommended by our venue coordinator and had worked together with our amazing wedding planner (Susan Lutz) who also highly recommended them, so we gave them a try. The whole experience from start to finish was so much easier and more enjoyable than we ever could have imagined. Dawn Meitz is literally a wonder woman and was absolutely amazing to work with. She's very experienced (with a variety of different wedding sizes/styles/locations) and was extremely knowledgeable. She's organized and was a great communicator during the many months leading up to the wedding - being especially patient with my mother who lives across the country and always had a million questions for her. She was friendly and accommodating and was so much fun to work with... Not only is she great at her job, but you can tell that she is passionate about what she does. She leads a great group of talented staff very well and it made a huge difference throughout the planning process and on the day of our wedding. With all of the stresses that inevitably arise in planning and executing a wedding, A Spice of Life was one of the biggest factors in making everything happen seamlessly. We had roughly 140 guests and they all raved about our caterer - from the amazing appetizers, dinner and dessert bar, to the decorations, the drinks/cocktails, service and the entire atmosphere. They were professional, incredibly efficient, they worked cohesively with all of our other vendors (DJ/flowers/planner/decor rental/etc), they came on time and left only after everything was cleaned up, and my favorite part was the special touches they included. Dawn literally walked through the buffet and lovingly served us (Bridge & Groom) our meals during the dinner. They even packaged up an adorable box of leftovers at the end of the night for us to enjoy after the wedding. A little over a month has passed since our wedding and I literally miss working with and hearing from Dawn... We were beyond impressed by A Spice of Life and are so grateful to Dawn and her amazing staff for making our wedding so incredibly special and stress-free. Do yourself a favor if you're planning a wedding in Colorado and call Dawn Meitz at A Spice of Life... 10/5 stars - Highly recommend =)

Jake was amazing from the first call! He guided us through the entire process professionally, but personally. He felt like a family member! Every detail was addressed.
The food (Bear Peak BBQ w/pork and brisket) was perfect - and I'm from Kansas City, so I know good bbq.
Presentation was beautiful and staff was exceptional.
Would recommend them again and again!

Great party from set up to clean up. Max the chef was highly professional in all aspects. A high light, but not the only one, was his artistic set up of the buffet table and his introduction to my guests of the menu. It added a nice touch. And by the way, the food was great.

The experience, culinary excellent and service acumen of this venerable Boulder business is on full display as they cater a party of 300 academics. I was the program committee member charged with overseeing the conference party, and this was the first professional event I'd ever organized off campus. We held our event in the Dairy Arts Center (they are wonderful too) and the outstanding handshake between Spice of Life and the Dairy Center was tremendously calming and gratifying. We had a party that combined h'ors d'oeuvres tables with passed items. Tables were beautiful and servers were unobtrusive, polite and dextrous. Everything was delicious (and largely vegetarian, by my request). Pricing was very reasonable. We satisfied all of the diverse constituencies at an international academic conference. I should also mention that working with Emily at Spice of Life was a calming and fun experience. She is a consummate professional with great communicative skills, who anticipates everything. I would hold this kind of event again in a heartbeat. Although there are strong institutional pressures to hold CU events on campus, I note that many CU units do in fact plan off-campus events with Spice of Life. There's a bit of administrative overhead to doing this, but it is well worth it as an alternative to UMC Catering.

Spice of Life is the most incredible, helpful, delicious caterer there is!! I have worked/been the beneficiary of their catering through the last 10 years. I attended a monthly meeting that they catered and the food was always amazing, no matter how simple or complicated the dish was! (btw their pumpkin lasagna is to die for!!). My parents insisted on having Spice of Life cater my sisters wedding and we had mac and cheese and it was seriously the best mac and cheese I have ever had.

Most recently I used Spice of Life for my own event with a non-profit. They were so incredibly helpful and sweet from start to finish. Lexie was amazing at helping me set up all the details and Meredi was our front person at the event and I never once had to ask her for anything! They came in and did their job perfectly and she even made sure all the volunteers and I actually ate while running around. At the end of the night, the volunteer we had from the venue said Spice of Life was the most helpful caterer they had ever worked with! And all of the guests loved the food!

After seeing the way Spice of Life works for so many years, and after having so many of their meals, I will always highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

This catering company was the best from start to finish! They were very responsive with my inquiries which was the reason I picked them. Wendy was an awesome catering consultant. She was instrumental in the success of our dinner rehearsal. Not only did she made sure to visit the place of event, but she also took the time to talk to my son and took all his ideas for the dinner. Her dinner choices were excellent! The guests were raving about the appetizers. During the event, the staff that came were very professional and customer service oriented. They didn t let a little rain bother them. Wendy even stopped by and helped them out. The staff also left the kitchen spotlessly clean!. I highly recommend this catering company and I would definitely use them again if I was back in Boulder.

Jake Safran was very helpful to work with and prompt in answering any questions we had. This was the difference between choosing them over other caterers. Though he was not present on the day of the wedding, his team handled the dinner/bar tending services well and we didn t hear any complaints. The food (salmon and chicken) also got many compliments from our guests. Well done, SOL!

Wow!!!..we were thrilled to see Spice has been doing Bring Spice Home family and single meals. We ordered the Korean Beef family meal and what a delicious meal! Very generous portions and the quality and flavor were out of this world!.. hands down the best dinner we ve had in months!., and even then, much better than many restaurants put out in our opinion.
The beef was juicy, tender and very authentic tasting. Noodles were just perfect and the Asian slaw was a knockout! We had leftovers, so we were able to enjoy this well prepared dish twice!! Everything was well packaged and very easy to reheat, and nothing at all suffered from re-heating.
Desserts are crazy good!!.. we had some delicious cookies and a Strawberry shortcake that was the very best I ve ever had, literally!!

We ordered the whiskey steak, mashed potatoes and candied carrots with broccoli cheddar soup last week, and their Korean beef stir fry this week. Love the individually packaged portions and convenience of finishing in my own oven - at a time that works for me and my family. I reached out to A Spice of Life for catering my small elopement celebration coming up on 7/3/2020 - Amanda reached out to me and set a time to discuss over the phone. Although they couldn't supply what I was looking for due to COVID-19, she made an effort to get in touch with me to discuss and help me think though other options for our special day. Many business would have either not responded to my inquiry at all, or answered with a simple email saying they couldn't help - But Amanda went above and beyond for customer service and I was extremely impressed with this. I will absolutely keep A Spice of Life at the front of my mind for any future catering needs because of this service.

Spice of life catered my wedding on July 6 and did a tremendous job. The professionalism of the staff ensured the night went without a hitch. Leading up to the event, I worked with Jake and he was incredibly flexible and willing to help swap foods out after we started from a packaged menu but wanted some customizations. The food was great, especially the BBQ rubbed pork loin and the Chipotle sweet potato salad. We ended up splurging and had them do our dessert bar as well with assorted pastries. We spent more than we budgeted but the guests absolutely loved them so it was worth it in the end. I only wish I had tried one!

The planing, the event management, the food, and the service was exceptional. The casual wedding reception for our son and daughter in law was just perfect! The next day, as my sister headed out to the airport, turned to me and said, "That catering company was pretty ******* awesome!" Thank you for a memorable evening for my family and friends!

Emily and her team with Spice of Life did a phenomenal job for our September wedding that had to move venues. They took appropriate precautions to ensure a safe and sanitary event, while still letting it be a party. They were affordable, responsive to our concerns, and professional as a team. I would recommend Spice of Life to anyone. As a groom who was more involved than most grooms, I would say you might need to stay on top of the day of events (There's a lot to track) and make sure the team is doing everything that's in the contract. Overall I have no complaints and their taco menu is fabulous!

Jake and everyone with a Spice of life were wonderful and professional from the moment we met. They catered our wedding and the food was wonderful our guests loved it. I was ecstatic to hear that we would be sent home with a basket of food since the bride and groom often don t get to eat on their big day which ended up being the case. Sadly there was not enough food packed for the both of us and even less cake packed for us. My husband is rather disappointed by this because we won t be able to freeze it to enjoy together on our first anniversary. Also last minute a second coordinator Erica was brought in to work our who was wonderful but a last minute change was a tad alienating. However beyond that we did enjoy our experience.

Max and his team did a fabulous job setting up and serving the most delicious luncheon for a group of brokers. The event was in an empty shopping center space and they transformed it into a comfortable setting for a networking event that included lunch and a presentation. We received compliments from the attendees on how delicious the food was. Then the team took everything down and packed it all up like they were never even there! I highly recommend A Spice of Life for any event you might be hosting.

People are still telling me how very perfect our celebration of life for Eric was, how much they loved the food, high compliments on all sides for A Spice of Life. Only complaint, you needed SIX stars for a rating instead of five.

We contracted with A Spice of Life this past weekend for our wedding. They did a wonderful job from end to end: planning and prep was very detailed; the tasting was set up perfectly in their space in Boulder; our coordinator, Max has a great sense of humor and the desire to make the day what we wanted it to be especially when some logistical challenges popped up on-site on Saturday. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates. Our guests were wowed by them. Max made carrots happen for me and that made me happy! The tables were set up to fit everyone comfortably and the linen selection, etc. was exactly what I ask for during our on-site planning day. The staff who did the serving provided seamless service. I highly recommend ASOL.

WOW! Kathy and Spice of Life was great to work with from day one. We went to a tasting and everything was absolutely great. The place was clean, presentation was great, and the food was delicious. My wife and I are both students and so being on a budget for a wedding can be challenging. However, Kathy was such a help and allowed us to find a menu that we loved while staying in a relative budget range. The day of our wedding was great as Spice of Life came in and set everything up with ease and we hardly even noticed they were there. The timing of serving the courses was great and the food was a good temperature. Our guests had great things to say about the meal choices and serving sizes. The crew was very nice and very professional when serving the plated dinner. We even invited them to come dance at the end of the night!

I worked with Kathy to have A Spice of Life cater my wedding and everything was flawless. From the initial contact to the tasting and all the various emails right up to the day of the wedding, Kathy and her staff were nothing but supportive and professional. The food was amazing!! Do yourself a favor and get the red velvet cupcakes... there wasn t a single one left at the dessert station! The salmon was flaky and buttery, the beef tenderloin was so tender and juicy. We absolutely loved a Spice if Life and wished we lived in Colorado just so we could use them again for other events!

Wonderful service, fantastic food, pleasant and courteous people to deal with. The price is very much in line with the quality and quantity of the food.

A Spice of Life is also very flexible - we were able to pick and choose items from their suggested menu to fit our taste and budget. They also have suggested menus that are a good start if you don't know what to choose. That's what we did - started with a package and customized it exactly what we wanted. Bonus: they also accommodated the celiac/vegan/vegetarians in our group easily.

After the event was over, they boxed up the remainders for guests to take with - very nice!

An absolutely fantastic experience. We worked with Wendy after she took over from Lexie. We were initially a bit worried of a transition only a couple months before the wedding, but this company is so fantastic, they made the switch with ease and our wedding was perfect. The food quality is also something worth noting about this place. If you want good, and I mean tasty food, wedding quality tasty food, go to Spice of Life. Emily and her staff were amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. She responded to every question and need we had to make our day special and it was! We highly recommend a Spice of Life and having a Emily there throughout the planning process and the day of the wedding was exceptional.

Spice of Life was fantastic in every aspect! They provided excellent food and service, and they were even able to help me on a tight timeline. Several people asked for their contact info, and I'd highly recommend them for any event!

My wife and I used A Spice of Life (ASOL) for our wedding. The food at the reception was amazing, they worked seamlessly with our other vendors for our deserts and late night snack. They allowed us to purchase the liquor and they provided the labor. Their staff helped to set up and break down.

We also used them for a brunch the next day which was phenomenal. We had some logistical issues wit the venue and ASOL rolled with the punches to pull it off. My hat goes off to the ASOL staff with an extra big thanks to Amy and Dawn!!

Spice of Life pretty much saved my wedding.

We had originally contracted with a different catering company when covid hit and we received an email about 3 months before the big day saying our original catering company went bankrupt (we lost thousands of $). I was completely distraught and panicked. I called Spice of Life and they were SO on top of everything. They graciously helped me re-create our menu, while being very respectful and kind regarding the cost of everything. I was very worried after going through our previous catering experience as far as signing contracts, time of payments, and "what-if" scenarios. Spice of Life was understanding and patient and worked with me ( A LOT) to come up with a contract, and payment plan I felt comfortable with in the mist of covid. Emily was fantastic! She was quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had, texted me frequently to check in (my preferred method of communication), and was always on time and on top of everything!

The day of the wedding went so smooth - I couldn't asked for anything better! Spice of Life respected everything I wanted as far as covid goes. The appetizers were all served and passed carefully and individually + tasted amazing. The staff were kind and all wore masks and gloves at all times. The bridal parties received little snack trays before the wedding and my husband and I received a take home box of food after as well. They have these really nice (not ugly) plexi-glass shields to go around the buffet, which made me and my guests feel even safer. They also served the buffet and did a great job decorating it to match the feel of my venue. I used to work at Spice of Life and know weddings aren't easy to work. All the staff were amazing and I'm especially thankful for Emily! I don't know what we would've done with out you.

Having a wedding during covid has definitely put me through the ringer, but out of everything that was flipped upside down and smashed upon, the one great outcome was getting to work with Spice of Life. They are a solid company who care deeply amount their clients and I would highly recommend them to any future covid or non-covid brides!

We have used you before in 2015 for brunch when our son got married, and now again for our daughter's wedding up in Estes Park at the Landing. We were not disappointed. From the beginning planning stages to implementation your staff was helpful, friendly, knowledgable, kind, and unflappable (is that a word?). Dawn is a joy to work with and so terrific at providing guidance and support. Amy who was the event coordinator both for the wedding reception and the brunch the following morning was absolutely fantastic. She did everything with a bounce in her step (in case of the brunch literally running food up and down) and a smile on her face. She handled the glitch with the new venue and the ice machine with poise and confidence. The staff who worked at the wedding reception were wonderful too! We so appreciated that Spice could handle all aspects of the event, leaving me the mother of the bride to enjoy the day knowing we were in good hands. We will be smiling for weeks to come as we remember the fantastic food, staff, and smiles.

Amanda and her team were awesome! They did a great job and the food was amazing. They helped us with some last minute changes and were so nice about it. As a company we will definitely use them again and I would recommend them to everyone!

I couldn't have been more impressed with the professionalism and quality that spice of life provided for my wedding. Jake Safran was wonderful and I cant even begin to thank him! The props they brought for the food tables were absolutely perfect. Their team was so friendly, and the food tasted great. The only reason they are not receiving a 5 star review is that the actual team the day of were not the most detailed and a few things were not taken care of which we originally had discussed.

The staff was on time, and very nice and efficient. They did a great job of cleaning up as they went and afterwards.The appetizers were very good. Unfortunately, the main courses were cold. We ran out of two sides before everyone had their food, but were left with an abundance of one cold main course.

Lexie and everyone at A Spice of Life were great from the beginning. Very professional and kind. We customized our menu and we couldn't have been happier. Our wedding was a month and a half ago and our friends and family are still raving about the mac & cheese. I would highly recommend to anyone planning a wedding in/around Boulder.

ASOL catered our wedding this past Friday and they were exceptional! It was wonderful working with Dawn for the past year, making the planning process so much easier! Food was beyond amazing in which all of our guests commented on how much they loved the food, including our other vendors! I would highly recommend for any event and will use in future!

Jake and the whole Spice of Life crew were absolutely fantastic to work with. Jake gave us his personal phone number and always responded to texts and emails within seconds. Even when he was on vacation with his family, he texted me back right away. On the day of the wedding, there was a rain storm before the ceremony and all of the chairs were soaked. Even though it was not their job at all, the crew from a spice of life ran out with towels to dry off all of the seats. Jake and the crew let us use any and all decorations they had, not just for the reception, for the ceremony as well. They provided the bridal party with snacks before the ceremony to help calm our tummies and our nerves. The food at the reception was absolutely amazing, I hear comments all of the time for my guests about how delicious it was. Everybody went back for seconds! I would recommend a spice of life for any event!!

They really do a great job of helping with all aspects. The whole crew was so professional and I had so many comments on how good the good was!
