Went in to buy a new soft board and saw plenty of employees sitting around the counter and asked out loud if someone could help get a board and they just looked at me and continued talking and being on their phones so I had to leave and buy one at a different store then called to tell them I tried to buy a board and your employees wouldn t help and was told there numbers are great and it didn t doesnt soooo

Absolutely awesome place. Staff was super friendly and explained fun things to do. Sold me some awesome bathing suits and I didn't realize there was so much to them but so we'll worth it

Excellent place of business! So, I roller blade. One of my wheels popped off. A gentleman named Ben assisted me as soon as I walked through the door. He provided the best customer service I've ever received, hands down. Not only did he show me how to replace the axle i needed, he put it on for me, since I am a noob. Now, my skates legitimately ride better than when I took them out of the box brand spankin' new :) I guess what I'm trying to say, Arnold said more succinctly... I'll be back!

The women's clothing choices didn't appeal to me. There was a very small selection.The staff wasn't very welcoming and unattentive. Plenty of men/boys clothing.

Parking is available in front of the store. The employees greet you when you walk in. The store has a large selection of clothing for men and woman of all ages and sizes. There were deals and discounts on merchandise. The employees are friendly and ask if you need help.

Great little surf shop for swimsuits and more. Clean, friendly.

Brought my 8 year old son there to buy a skateboard and while we were shopping he needed a bathroom and none of the staff there would let use the restroom so we ended up having to go somewhere else. I will never return to this store or recommend it to anyone else.

I might be biased because my sister worked here briefly back in the 80s, however I've been buying stuff from these guys for decades and I still love it, just a freaking awesome store!!!

Stopped in during a vacation to pick up a longboard. Very friendly staff and a great assortment of boards to choose from.

Really nice surf shop. Good selection of clothing and a small but solid selection of surfing supplies. A tad pricy but not any more expensive than any other surf shop in the area.

Growing up in va beach this was the Mecca of surf shops. Unfortunately I never got to go. Upon my return to va beach as an adult I immediatley got a beer and oysters and headed down to the shop. I was giddy with excitement. The staff was super friendly and understood my journey. Their knowledge on products superb and helpful. Ah man I never leave reviews. But thanks guys this was awesome. Will be back to grab a board tomorrow just gotta juice up the old lady a little more. If not I will be back next year.

The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Fantastic selection of apparel for both men and women as well as for surf or skate. Huge Yeti assortment. We will definitely be back when next in town.

I used to come here and shop when I lived in Va. Beach 20+ years ago and now live in Michigan (you can take me away from the ocean, but not take the ocean from me). I am planning on coming back and shop there again.

Great selection of surf skate and summer wear, great service but can get a little crowded in certain areas.

Sold us a surfboard to small for my son and would not let me exchange it for bigger one. Was told no returns. Terrible customer service.

They have a lot of stuff I like. We found a great deal on body board last weekend!

Unfortunately they didn t have what I was looking for and wouldn t till late month/may time frame. I had intentions of purchasing a pair of Sanuks for my trip and I ve gone to a couple stores to find a certain style/color.

One thing I noticed when we walked in off bat no one let us know where anything was and didn t offer help unless I initiated the question. Also we weren t informed of any promotions or sales that were occurring. Majority of their workers were huddled up and having casual conversation. I wouldn t recommend coming here. Just go to Costal Edge and get better service there.

Excellent place to get quality apparel along the oceanfront. Most of the small shops that sell "Virginia Beach" apparel, sell cheaply made stuff that doesn't last. At 17th street, you'll find super high quality clothing such as Patagonia.

Great surf shop. Can handle your surfing needs, flops, suits, sunglasses, etc. Not a souvenir shop you won't get $10 t-shirts for the kids here.

One of the best and separately one of the biggest surf shops I've been to. I love getting summer tanks at surf shops because I think it's the best place to find them so I always find myself in surf shops around the country even though I've never been on a board. I went in on this visit to find a particular pair of shorts that fit me really well. The sales guys were helping me when another guy, who I wasn't even sure if he worked there, stepped in and took over. This guy was amazing. He knew so much about the shorts you could swear he worked for quicksilver. I'm pretty sure the guys name was Tyler, bit it's irrelevant because when I went to pay him a compliment to the manager I find out that (younger) guy is the owner. That's really great that the owner has such great product knowledge and more importantly still takes the time out to help a single customer.

Great RCA shirts as gifts for Grandpa and hoodies for son....yeah military discount too!

Iconic! This place has been around since I was in elementary school a million years ago. Continuing the tradition by getting my daughter some 17th Street gear!

Great shop. It's been the place to buy beach stuff for years. The prices are better than they have been in the past. Great options in swim trunks and socks.

A nice variety of items from both surf and skate. The t shirts are my personal favorite, and, because it's smack in the middle of downtown va beach, you can hit 17th street right before spending an afternoon at the beach.

I love 17th Street Surf Shop. I buy most of my apparel from here on my spontaneous day trips. Their printed graphic long sleeve shirts are my favorite apparel item. I bought two plate frames from here in 2010 and they ve held up throughout some very strenuous conditions. They still look fresh after almost ten years on my vehicles. Durable as can be. They offer skateboards, surf boards, other various souvenir trinkets, beach wear, bathing suits, sunglasses, watches, and much, much more.

Unfriendly staff. They never asked if we needed help even though we were obviously looking to purchase. They were too busy chatting with each other and talking about what they did last night. Its more of a clothing shop since they left their original building. We ending up going to a real surf shop WRV.

Best surf shop in town. I get all my gear here. It was the place I got all my skate boards and surf equipment growing up. Now it's the place for all my son's surf and skim board needs. Staff is very helpful knowledgeable. They go out of there way to help you and educate you.

I used to always get board shorts here. The selection would be great if i had a 30-32 waist!

Staff was very helpful to this older couple that was in Va Beach for vacation.

The staff must have been having an off day. They were not friendly and gave off a very rude vibe. I wasn't greeted. And when I got to the register and said hello the two girls behind the counter didn't return a greeting. Unfortunate because I love surf ships.

Support local by starting getting stuff from this shop, their apparel are great and high quality, price is friendly as well as the people working in here!

Definitely one of my favorite stores growing up as a skater. Got all my boards, hardware & apparel from there. Still do whenever I visit Va Beach since they closed the one in Newport News where I currently reside.

The location in Greenbriar doesn't carry much for surfing. It's more so just a skate shop
