Frigid but often sunny with lovely powder and trails running down the backside of the mountain away from the main bowl all combine to make it a destination ski adventure. With Tahoe close at hand and the always exhilarating California 49 gold rush highway a little farther afield there's plenty to do if your vacation compels more than just skiing.
