The Benson is touted as a high-end boutique hotel. Unfortunately this was not my impression. At best I would describe it as everything else in Portland, dirty overpriced and dissappointing.

Let's start with the parking. There is none, save the valet that looked like he was strung out on meth.

Accessibility at the main entrance was lacking. You have to walk up three stairs to drag your suitcase into a revolving door. I watched the valet pretend to not notice as four flight attendants drug their bags up the stairs since the ramp entrance was closed. I can only assume this is to keep Portland's huge homeless heroin population out of the hotel.

At the front desk was a disheveled clerk that looked like the flight crew checking in had woke her up to begin what seemed to be a very labouris check in process for the flight crew. One would presume that a hotel like this would have the crew check in process down.

The wood paneling in the elevator was covered in pocket knife graffiti. The lighting in the halls appeared to be set at "horror movie murder."

The windows in the hotel room appeared to be the originals that came with the building when it was new, right down to the embedded chicken wire.

The door on the in room refrigerator was locked.

Overall a huge dissappointment.
