The staff at Eisenhower is extremely friendly, no complaints there.....but that's about where the praise ends for me. It seems as though there is a massive lack of medical professionals and patients, and between the different departments within the hospital. In many cases it feels as though people have been promoted to their highest level of incompetentcy. This miscommunication results in wasted time, duplication of procedures, and general unpleasantness for the patient. The other huge issue I have is the lack of separation between healthy and obviously sick patients. In Radiology for example, I waited for a knee xray alongside someone with a hacking cough, runny nose, and watery eyes. 36 hours later, I received the gift that keeps on giving, a very nasty viral respiratory infection. Fast forward to 10 days later and a follow up appointment. This time, I left with hand, foot, and mouth disease. These are preventable by simply keeping the obviously ill people in a separate waiting area. Calling to schedule an appointment is also extremely frustrating. I called 3 times today to schedule an appointment, each time to be told by a recording that my wait time was upwards of 28 minutes. I think the ideas in place are good, but until the communication improves, Eisenhower will continue wast time and money. The waiting areas are a cesspool of disease, and that could also be easily prevented in many cases by mainting "well patient" waiting areas.
