My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt San Ant...

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio for one night during the weekend. We had a generally positive experience but the Hyatt does have some issues.

Let's start with the good stuff: Grand Hyatt had a very amicable and welcoming staff. We each received a free complimentary margarita in a cup and it tasted pretty good. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. Located on the 18th floor, we had quite a wonderful view of the north side of the city. We did not experience any disturbance during our stay.

And as for what needs improvement? Well... The mattresses are a bit old and are beginning to have a crease in the middle. There were no queen or king beds available, so my husband and I had to share a double bed; it's great so long you don't move too much at night. The bed frame creaks loudly and easily; having sex in one of those beds almost feels like a comedy scene at times. The bathroom has a burgeoning mold issue; the maintenance painted over it but the caulking still clearly shows presence of mold. This could prove a serious issue in the near future. The iHome alarm clock in our room was broken; the radio was shoddy and the mp3 line out was unusable. A pity.

Overall my impression of the Grand Hyatt was good but not great, and I am worried that it is already starting to show signs of aging, a few years only after it got built. Unless Hyatt can pull itself together and fix these growing concerns, I do not foresee a valiant future for this hotel.
