We purchased this dog bed at a Walmart, and it was manufactured and marketed by nVision. Last week our Doberman, Hans apparently noticed a very small hole or beginning of a hole from a loose thread. Upon this discovery, and within a time period of less than 20 minutes, he decided to chew on the spot and he proceeded to open up the bed and get to the foam, and eat several pieces. What ensued was every pet owners WORST NIGHTMARE! Within a day, he was trying to throw up, and was labored in his breathing. Not wanting to immediately risk complications from surgery, we consulted a veterinarian who examined Hans and proceeded to take X-rays. As we suspected his stomach had foam in it, and the foam would not pass. Upon the advice of the vet, we administered a pill (Sucralfate) to Hans that she believed would coat things and allow for him to pass the foam. This strategy failed as he declined rapidly in the hours after his first vet visit. We called the vet and she said to bring Hans in immediately for emergency surgery. We had our reservations because Hans was 8 years old, but he was very well cared for and healthy, so we took the calculated risk. Minutes after his anesthesia was administered, he stopped breathing. All attempts to resuscitate Hans failed. Hans was dead. All because of this STUPID dog bed, and the foam which is highly dangerous to animals, cannot past through their system if ingested, and is most likely from HIGHLY dubious chemicals from China. SHAME ON YOU SERTA, SHAME ON YOU nVision Marketing for putting out such a HORRIBLE PRODUCT. We can never get or beautiful Hans back! We can, however, spread the word on reviews and social media so that other pet owners don t lose their loved ones in such a HORRIFIC manner. These dog beds are cheap, they are a garbage product. Do yourself a favor, and more so your pet a huge favor by avoiding this product completely and seeking out something that is more durable, and that has foam that is NOT toxic and which can break down and pass through your pet's digestive tract.
