This was one of the worst experiences of my life. My wife was admitted for a stroke. The rooms are small and cluttered. They were not clean, there was stuff all over the floor. The food was inedible. The nursing staff was incompetent and uncaring. My wife was left on a commode and no one came to check on her. She could have been seriously injured. We selected SMH because our doctors practice there. And there are not many other options but I would say this was a totally unpleasant experience. I would give it a D. What a sad thing that Sarasota only has two hospitals and SMH is a disaster.
