I couldn't get the stick work, but the issue was not the stick. There were numerous factory presets that the FixMeStick technical support team worked methodically with me during a support call to disable some non-essential settings. After those issues were resolved the stick completed a scan with fixes and now my computer appears to boot and process much faster and more efficiently.
