I am a fan of history, evolution and mechanisms - how things work, how a scientist thinks while inventing/discovering, how evolution works, how cell manufacture proteins - essentially the evolution of things and how one event led to another.
I had just finished work on creating my family tree chart (also a sort of tracing history) when I heard of the Fundamental Etymology Workshop by Logophilia. I was thrilled, I started counting down days to the workshop. FEW lead me into this world of study of evolution of words - how few roots evolved to form words so numerous. It was awesome. It was an insight into the minds of people and communities past. A new logic emerged to the surface that made my understanding of the English language better and more coherent. Today, after the workshop, I feel that my mind has rewired itself to easily recall whatever word I require at the moment. I no longer believe in memorizing words. And whenever I do use a word from my new organized arsenal of words, I remember the generations of history behind it which brings a smile to my face.
