The reason for the name of the cowshed art village...

The reason for the name of the cowshed art village is because it used to be the Ma Tau Kok Livestock Quarantine Station and the Central Slaughter Center for Cattle.

Cattle Depot Artists Village, the only village-led space, is the art-themed space.

I visited on Monday, almost all of the art villages were closed. The visitors only saw three people inside. Maybe they had just passed the Saturday and Sunday holidays. They had a rest on Monday!

The red brick building here combines the characteristics of Chinese and Western architecture. In addition to retaining the original buildings, it also retains the cement trough feeding the cattle and the iron ring attached to the ground.

Note
* There is also a charcoal art village in Hong Kong, located in the Fo Tan Industrial Zone in Sha Tin. But this is not a combined space. It is only by different art workers, each in the Fo Tan Industrial Zone, renting different factory buildings and doing their own. Artistic creation!

The other is JCCAC, the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre in Shek Kip Mei. It is an art creative space managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
