The F1 itself is awesome but the F1 event management and everything about COTA for the F1 event SUCKS!!
Expect to be at a trekking/marathon event instead of a F1/concert.
Even to get to shuttles one has to walk round and round in circles.
If there's rain, wear rain boots because this place is just a whole lot of mud.
Parking is haphazard and all over the place. With the number of people showing up for events in F1, they should spend a little money on their parking and permanent bathrooms.
Food options are plenty , just getting from one turn to another is an ordeal.
Water is the most expensive commodity-$5 for a small bottle.
Now for the concert, if they point you to the super stage, it is a nightmare. So on top of all the money you spend on the two hour F1 race, the included race day concert (Brittney Spears, this weekend) which is a sham.
A wide expanse of open land with no maintained grass/seating space and loads of muddy patches greet you. Mind you that is after walking a few thousand steps on uneven terrain.
If you give up the option of being around the stage which gives you a diminished view anyway, and walk up to the stands (turn 9), all you get to see is a minuscule stage with some movement.
They have a big screen right in front of the stands that they don't even bother to turn on. The sound quality is terrible.
And now lastly as far as the guidance staff was concerned, the yellow shirts redirect you to the blue and the blue to the reds and all sound equally clueless as to which direction to head for which parking lots or elsewhere . No one knows any shortcuts and no one has any helpful suggestions.
What should be an exciting eventful day soon becomes an exhausting day that you can't wait to be done with. Most folks who stayed back after the race for the concert just left. The ones who purchased just the concert tickets seemed to stay.
Being as open and big as it is, weather is tricky. Today started off warm, then warmer and by late afternoon the cold breeze took over and by evening it was pretty cold. So dress appropriately and carry tons of stuff to tackle the stuff that comes your way.
And loads and loads of steps up and down uneven terrain.
No helpful directions posted for most part.
COTA, you guys could put in some effort to make this a better experience for the thousands who cough up thousands for this event.
