Walking up to check-in, 4 people avoided eye contact. First contact had a tag with Manager on it. Usual greeting without sincerity. Asked room preference, I asked for view upper. Joked about old government rate days overlooking roofs and HVAC ugliness. Get to 3rd floor room, ugly view of parking garage, parking lot and railroad yard junk. Paid $50 too much for the organized event price of $129 over every web lister showing $79. Room amenities comparable to America's Best Value Inn. Clean floor but burns around the sink. Bathtub was comfortable. Big bath towels were good. Bed was comfortable. Not too much light but a white strobe periodically flashing triggered migraine. Coffee maker was efficient and tasty although the powdered creamer clumped and curdled weirdly. Asked helpful maid for extra condiment packages. Took 3 to color and sweeten coffee. The event venue customary though they ran out of hot appetizers, finger sandwiches, cookies and brownies before the first pass through. Lag time in refilling. Fishy blue crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms were really heavy fishy flavor, needed cream cheese balance and I got more than one unpleasant cartilage bite. Ungraceful disposal pulling out of mouth in front of people. The roast beef on sandwiches was flavorless. How many cheap tuna salad filler finger sandwiches. Cheap. Paid too much and got too little.
