If I could give it 0 stars, I definitely would. By far one of the worst Georgetown cupcake experiences I've had.
I was visiting Washington D.C and wanted to visit Georgetown cupcake in hopes of being able to purchase a few cupcakes. Understanding there is a pandemic taking place at the moment, I called and checked online for operation hours. When calling, the automatic system stated Georgetown closed at 9:00 pm, it showed 9:00 pm online, as well. So I made my way over around 7:40pm. When I arrived, there was a woman standing outside who was very upset. She informed us that she drove all the way from Virginia and that the location was closed. There was one gentleman employee inside that ignored us and any questions we had. Not to mention, we spent $20 in a cab to get to Georgetown and $20 to get back to our hotel. Money wasted.
I sent an email to Georgetown cupcake explaining my experience and all they did was tell me they closed at 7pm, it's a pandemic and how they only do online preorders.
Cool... Understood. The following day, I tried placing a preorder online. It clearly states on the website that same day preorders must be received by 5:00pm. Fortunately, it was 2:00pm, so I tried placing an order. Nope, it wouldn't allow me to do so. I called three times...no answer. Since I was already in the area for brunch, I thought maybe their system was down, so I walked over to the location in Hope's of recieving help with ordering. We arrive to the location explaining to the employees that we weren't able to place orders online, and the told us they weren't doing same day orders. Once again, inconsistency with the ordering process.
There were so many customers that were upset and walked off the line, due to the information provided online and within the store.
We understand there's a pandemic going on. But this kind of customer service is terrible for business. It's an inconvenience to customer. Not only will they lose customers due to this behavior and carelessness, but you will lose your business.

People need to know what time you close BEFORE they arrive. Not when they get there and see it on the door.
