The room itself is fine. I ve got a great view of the river and the city. The window can be opened to let in fresh air or noise if you hate it being too quiet when you sleep. Everything is weirdly low. I m 6 1 and feel like a giant in the room. The bed is comfortable. They seem to be trying a bit too hard with their red phone line to the Congressional switchboard and the copy of 1984 they encourage you to steal (for a $10 room charge, of course). But I have to give them props for at least trying. A hotel just isn t where I want to get my daily dose of activism.
Get into the hotel is difficult. I went in through the employee entrance first because there s no clear sign for the hotel entrance. Then I ended up at the gift shop entrance. Then finally at the front desk. The person who checked me in just kept walking off to a back room during the check in process. I guess he had something more important to deal with.
Now let s talk about the bathroom. It s split in two. Toilet is in a closet. Sink is outside the toilet. That s to the left as you enter the room. To the right is a room with the shower and the tub. And a tiny nightlight. The shower tile is black, so that makes it even darker. There are blinds you can open, but they don t let much more light into the shower. And since it s trendy to not have doors on showers these days, water splashes out onto the carpet by the door. And if you prefer privacy when you shower or you need to get up before your partner to shower without waking them up, that s impossible do to the lack of light or a door for the shower.
