We wanted to renovate our Park Slope townhouse and we decided to hire an architect to connect the studio apartment to the rest of the house by building a stairwell to connect and we wanted to completely redo the kitchen. We went with Martin who was professional, and reasonable and most importantly allowed us to work within a budget. The whole project included a refinish of the entire basement into a laundry and living room combination, a brand new beautiful wooden stairwell, we redid the pluming to move the kitchen sink into an island, and replaced the entire kitchen.
The quality of the work was fantastic. We were able to cut corners by using Ikea boxes, and custom doors at a very reasonable price. The cabinet doors are wood lacquered doors, that are very sturdy, and the island has beautiful walnut drawers and cabinets and a white stone countertop that was fabricated Cesar stone and installed by Martin's team. The stairs are beautiful and very solid.
I wouldn't say it was a huge project for Martin, but he kept it to a quick timeline, had a very professional crew of contractors who new what they were doing, especially the plumbing and dryer installation with custom venting to ensure we didn't have problems down the road. We'll definitely be using MRTA Design if we decide to add more to the home. We felt that everything was taken care of for us which made it very easy. Even the construction zone was cleaned thoroughly after the month long project to where we didn't even notice anything had been dusty (even though I know it was!)
