Awesome last minute special delivery!!! Story starts with my boss waiting to pay his employees after he receives these very important checks in the mail, that are only coming from oak ridge and that was sent out Tuesday so I waited all day through Friday waiting for them to arrive. Normally the mail runs by 2-3pm mon thru Friday and a little earlier on Saturday. Thursday it arrived at 11:30am! from a different post man so I thought that odd, so by the time it didn't show up by 6pm on Friday I knew something was going on. So I Chased a near by mail man down who told me the guy was sick so another guy would b delivering it. Waited till after 8pm and nobody in the area ever received anything. So my day off I came in expecting to get them. Waited till afternoon Saturday and still nothing. Chased another mail man down who told me again the guy was sick and another person would deliver it. Now this time I didn't trust that info for a second time after what happened yesterday and me having to wait at work 4 hours longer for nothing and coming back at 7am on my day off Saturday to find nothing again. I called the 1800 number, waited on hold 57 minutes, but they told me my message wouldn't be recieved/ responded to till Monday - Wednesday but gave me the number to reach the PO that they confirmed my mail was delivered from. I had already called two other post offices near by, the closest ones I thought would be from where my mail came from, and it would ring for 7 mins straight, no answer, no voicemail, and just hang up on me. Turns out my PO was the furthest one away, so I called the number the 1800# lady gave me for them. They answered in ONE RING (compared to several other post offices in the city not answering my dozen calls over the past TWO DAYS at all) So it's looking like they are the ONLY post office in the area that answers their phone. Thank god! She informed me my regular driver was on vacation, and the sub driver arrived to work, took all the mail in his truck, then half way thru the day went home sick. So they weren't able to give the mail to any other driver to deliver it as every one was already out delivering their mail and not returning till the end of day. That guy called out sick again the next day so it wasn't going to be delivered AGAIN. So she went in the back, found the IMPORTANT checks I had been expecting all week. And told me she would make a special trip to make sure they were delivered today, and told me to give them about 30 mins. Even tho not delivering the mail at all for two days in a row is really bad and unreliable service, the fact she was willing to make a special trip on the second day, especially a Saturday, is really awesome service. Especially since I hadn't been able to reach a single post office in this city besides this one, which thankfully is the one who delivers my mail instead of the closer ones who neglect to EVER answer their damn phone. Props to u all at the southerland post office, for being the only post office in the entire city that answers the phone, and making an extra trip to make sure I got my mail. Still waiting for it, but I trust it'll eventually get here bc I told her my boss said I'm not allowed to leave till I know for a fact the mail isn't coming or I get it. We have not been able to pay our employees due to not receiving these checks, that have seriously taken 5 days coming from oak ridge and wouldn't have come at all this week had I not called or they not answered.
