Livengrin is a good drug and alcohol treatment center focusing on group treatment. Ins cos tend to pay for IOP Treatment which helps a lot but the staff is not run by psychologists or psychiatrists anymore and clinicians in recovery are best when they also hold these degrees to better appreciate the interrelated factors of mental health and substance use. Livengrin is intricately connected to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous in that Livengrin is a 12-step facilitation treatment program. This is generally a good thing but it is not the only evidenced based treatment and approaches like Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention are sorely missing. I have had clients admitted for group treatment where they were not appropriate for the group and were assigned to group conditions without adequate individual therapy so if you're going to start an IOP like Livengrin or Rehab After Work you should definitely also find a better outside individual addiction psychologist. I've had clients turned away because they were on the medication Suboxone for opiate maintenance as prescribed by an addiction psychiatrist because the therapists didn't understand how to work with patients from an evidenced based harm reduction orientation. The requirements for being a primary therapist have waned over the years and I know no psychologists who work there. Many of the certified addiction counselors are not masters level. I still feel it's one of the better games in town for Intensive Outpatient group therapy. I would just recommend that you get a thorough work up with your addiction psychologist/psychiatrist first to see whether you'd benefit from individual vs group treatment and if group is the way to go then which form of group treatment is the best for you.
