We purchased a 2006 Avalon for our son on 10/19/19. Everything was great, no pressure, until we got to the finance part. We were offered an extended warranty which we denied several times, but they kept putting a spin on it and wear you down until you finally give in. I specially asked if a starter or alternator would be covered (since my husband had to have his alternator replaced on his used Lexus and WAS covered on the extended warranty we purchased from a SUBARU dealership) and then a very nice laminated drawing of an engine was put in front of us and we were told "all these items" were covered. We finally agreed to the warranty since we felt we were convinced that these high ticket items would be covered. Low and behold, 6 weeks later, the car wouldn't start. AAA determined it had a bad battery (only 1-1/2 years old) and the alternator was faulty. I thought, thank God we purchased that warranty! Then we find out from our mechanic the alternator was not covered and we have to come up with $800!!! How can that possibly be??? So I emailed our sales guy at AutoNation explaining the situation and he replied back with a "cut 'n paste" from someone just saying the warranty we purchased only covered certain items. Seriously!! After I specifically asked about the alternator, after having been down that road before.
I will NEVER purchase another vehicle from this place and please be aware folks, when being forced into purchasing this bait 'n switch extended warranty.
