Need a quick, inexpensive break from the greater DC area traffic, and the stress of urban atmosphere?

How about taking a stroll over some wetlands for free! Yes, Huntley Meadows Park is a swamp near the city airport. Yet, there really is abundant, varied wildlife to see such as turtles, snappers, birds/waterbirds, beavers and muskrats as long as you take the time to slow down and relax! The boardwalk goes right over the water and is a very pleasant, picturesque stroll.

No dogs, biking or jogging on the board walk itself - watch for snakes and the occasional grumpy goose! Enjoy!
