I went to the ER today for evaluation and treatment for diarrhea, vomiting, fever, headache, dehydrated and chest pain. I returned from a 4 week trip out of the country on Thursday evening and was concerned because it was not getting better. I am not one who likes the ER and was hoping it would subside. I am very displeased by the care I was given by Dr. X . He came in once, stood quite a distance away from the bed and asked a few questions. Came in several hours later, asked how I was feeling. My response was the same and he actually asked me why ???!!! I told him I had been to the bathroom twice since I had been there and still don t know what s going on. Later I asked one of the medical staff that I had not been to an ER in awhile and was it normal for the physician to not examine you. She looked puzzled and said he never physically touched you? I told her no and I thought that would have been part of the assessment. At this point, after being there for several hours, a series of different nursing staff professional appeared and I was given an IV. One asked since DR X had been in charge of my case could he come in and complete the assessment. I told them no, that I actually wanted to leave and go to another ER. I no longer felt comfortable under his care. After speaking with some of the administrative staff, I was given an exam. After making it through about half the IV bag, I asked to be disconnected. I felt very uncomfortable, particularly since I was alone. If DR X has a wife, mother, sister or child, I hope they never have to seek care from someone like him.
