My mechanic is a certified MB master mechanic and installed an entire OEM brake system on my SL55AMG last year. I mentioned that they were squeeking and felt spongy at higher speeds. He suggested I run them for a while and when the red light for brakes "visit workshop" comes on, he will bring to MB Pompano Beach for warranty work at no charge as there's a national recall for my model. The above scenario played out, he brought my vehicle to MBPB and they did not replace nor repair anything! They sent me an Invoice (#899390) for $234.88 which my mechanic, owner of MBZ-ONE, Danny Carretero paid on my behalf which they claimed was for diagnostics that determined the brakes were fine. My high performance vehicle sounds like it has rusted drum brakes rather than a precision vehicle that it is. Danny ate this bogus charge and did not charge me one cent. All the reason to avoid inflexible dealership protocol.
