My parents passed away and left their 3 cats to me...

My parents passed away and left their 3 cats to me. I am unable to take a tomcat so my brother took the two boys. The one boy got sick a few months after moving with my brother.

My brother has the biggest heart so when the woman who answered the door told him the only way they would care for our cat was to surrender him but that if he were able to be treated, they would allow him to pick our cat up. He didn't question her and signed the contract he was presented with. He was told to call the phone number or contact the email address on the form.

My brother and I sent several emails, called and left numerous messages in the month after. We were never contacted back.

It wasn't until my brother attempted to adopt another cat that we discovered our cat was still alive and had been transferred. I was given a different email address to contact and they responded to me within a day. The woman was very kind and said she forwarded my information on to the place they transferred our cat to.

After another week, I contacted them again and discovered that while I was being given the run around, someone else had adopted my cat.

Their website says they will help with getting care for a sick pet if you don't wish to surrender your animal. They don't. They told my brother it was basically surrender him or nothing. Also, I know my brother and I know how important our cat was to him; if he had been told the truth, he would not have surrendered him. He would have found another way to get him treatment.

I talked to a few people and discovered they do this to families all the time. My family will not what again deal with ACCT for anything after this and I will tell everyone who will listen what happened.
