While I think it's great they are implementing new regulations to make plastic surgery in DR safer, they are doing overkill. Even in the States, you can still get up to 3 procedures at a time, and as many as 6 at a time, depending what the procedures are.

As of 6/26/2019, you can get up to 5L of lipo if you are ONLY getting lipo. If you are getting anything besides lipo, you can only get up to 3L of fat from the lipo. The catch is, you can only have up to 2 procedures, lipo counts as a single procedure.

Unfortunately Dominican Republic is about to lose a LOT of business because of even those new rules alone. A great portion of DR's revenue is Medical Tourism. It becomes pointless to go, because in some cases it means paying for more rounds and therefore spending more money, taking more time off work. At which point, you may as well consider Colombia (which is way more all-inclusive), Mexico (TJ), or just staying in the States.

The other rule that is pretty stupid, is if your flight is more than 2hrs long (although they will make exceptions if the difference is only by like 30-45 min), you have to arrive in the country at least 5 days before scheduled surgery. Even in the States they don't do all that unless you are coming across the Atlantic (Europe, Africa, etc) or coming across the Pacific (Japan, China, Australia, NZ).

Very disappointing. I think the procedure limit should be up to 3. And if you are coming from anywhere in the States, no matter how long the flight is, up to 3 days before surgery makes sense. There are of course loopholes and ways around things, and I've figured some things out, but it's all nerve wracking and I've begun to look elsewhere for good surgeons.

Good luck to everyone else who might have been interested in plastic surgery here. If you only need one or two things done, you'll be fine. But if you want 3, you'll either need to have more than 1 round or go elsewhere.
