Fairfax community is a church where I believe the Pastor means well, but what I ve found challenging attending this church - and for this reason have since left - is the level of discomfort I felt amongst this overwhelmingly caucasian congregation. I cannot repeat the number of times I could visibly see how uncomfortable the members were around me. As a person of color, I did not feel welcome. I would encourage people to find a more diverse and welcoming church where the people don t low key tolerate you, appear visibly scared or turned off when they see you or treat you like a stereotype. If you ve been able to find your niche as a minority in this church, kudos to you! Somehow, I feel a certain type of minority would be welcome so long as they assimilate to the culture of the dominant demographic. Other than that, great worship team.
