Tina Review of John Eagle Honda Houston

My husband and I shopped for a car for 2 weeks straight before we finally decided to go with John Eagle Honda. We chose John Eagle because they had the car we wanted, at the price we were looking for. Did not like the financing person we dealt with, he was condescending. We are young and have no credit but just wanted to know what the APR% would be. We waited hours for him to go through a whole diagram about why our APR% was so high. We understand how credit works, we know we have no credit, we just wanted a straight answer so we can keep shopping for better APR%. After all that it was 18%, understandable because we have no credit. He was insistent we would not find a better rate and we should just sign and be happy we were able to get financed. We told him we were not interested in financing at 18%. He responded by saying we were in no position to make demands. We were not trying to get a better %, we were just letting him know that was too high for us. After that he tuned us out and there was no use talking to him. It was frustrating and felt unprofessional but I don't think they saw it that way because of our age. I continued to shop around for financing and ended up going with State Farm at 11% (we will refinance in a year). Now we just needed to get a bill of sales from John Eagle. This proved to be difficult. We chose John Eagle because of the price but once we started to process to purchase the vehicle they tried to add a $600 fee for Scotch Guarding the interior, $300 for some kind of paint protection and $1200 for a warranty. We were not interested in any of that but they insisted we had to pay for it because they had already Scotch Guarded the interior and added the paint protection to the vehicle. All this after we were told the price we see on the sticker is the price you pay. We expected the extra cost of tax, title and license but not all these other added expenses. We weren't interested in the extra warranty they were trying to add on because the vehicle only had 5,000 miles and was still under manufacture warranty. They were insistent we had to pay for these items. We let our agent know and she called them and told them we would not be paying for those items, the sales person (Heath) refused to budge so she asked for a manager. The manager refused to budge and then hung up in the middle of the conversation. They were rude and unprofessional. Finally Zane, another sales person took over and he was amazing. He took those items off the bill of sales, got the paper work ready and he made the process easy and quick. He had the car and paperwork ready for us when we got there. He was so polite and professional. He treated us kindly and apologized for everything. I really recommend asking for Zane as your sales person. John Eagle did have the lowest prices we could find in the greater Houston area. After all that insisting we needed to pay for the things they "already did to the car" you can tell it was not Scotch Guarded and does not have paint protection, so I'm assuming either they would have added it on after we paid or its just something they say they add and never do. I feel they saw a young couple and thought we would be an easy sale. We would use John Eagle again but now we know what to watch out for. We have had the car for 3 months now and have had no problems except we noticed the tires are already warn down. We didn't pay much attention to the tires when purchasing the vehicle but they seem like the cheapest tires ever made. After 3 months they are completely bald. We were also told they would be balanced, we took them to be checked shortly after purchasing and they were not balanced. After everything we got a great price but may have gotten better treatment and possibly better tires if we had just rolled over and taken it.
