I've been maintaining 2 furnaces ever since warranties ran out. I've replaced the Emerson control board on both machines. Twice on one. I now firmly believe that Emerson designs them to fail after a while. The engineers should have accounted for moisture and humidity. How can you miss that? Unless intentionally left out... Boards completely disintegrate in 2-4 years. To me, the solution is simple. Spray conformal coating on both sides of the board, protecting it from moisture and condensation! It would add a couple of dollars to the build cost of the board but would provide clients with much better quality. Again, I think Emerson wants them to fail so they sell more. It's really sad.
