I stayed at The Inn at Reading for a conference but I was not very pleased. When I arrived at the room the fridge didn't work. The front desk called maintenance who arrived within 20 min. This was fast service. He was very polite. The bathroom had open box of tissues with tissues stuffed back in the top of the box. This is very unsanitary. The toilet handle was loose. The towels were very hard. This is not the type of material you want to rub on your skin. The outlets at room entrance were sunk in away from the faceplate. The cord to iron kept falling out. The breakfast food on day 1 was cold and lukewarm on day 2. They didn't have hot water available for the tea bags that were out. On day 2 they ran out of hot water. It seems that the staff was not adequately monitoring the event for food supplies. The conference room was freezing cold. The air condition was on high. The only good experience was during check-in, the front desk associate, Marquita was so welcoming. We had a line to check-in and handled that line in a professional manner. She took time to answer questions, give directions and still cater to each one of us. She reassured us that even though there was a line she aould treat each of us with the same pleasant mannerisms. There are a lot of small issues but polite staff can overshadow those small things. Please train more staff to be as welcoming. She is the reason for 3 stars. On checkout I didn't receive the same type of encounter. The front desk associate wasn't rude but she wasn't welcoming either. I was a little taken back by the neutral tone. Overall the hotel needs a lot of work and I hope they can make some significant improvements before next year's event.
