My baby was eight days old when we visited Dr. Beckman. He did not have a consistent latch and was starting to lose weight, thus we started to bottle feed with donor milk. I was very concerned that he would not want me after receiving a bottle. Dr. Beckman was cheerful, humble, knowledgeable and very positive that 1) baby was born knowing how to latch on to me...we just needed to remind him. And 2)
baby should have no problem switching back-and-forth between nipple and bottle it was just a matter of strengthening the muscles that were weak. That was such a relief for a first time mommy. She went though a series of simple tests and gave us exercises to practice. Three days later he had his first decent latch. And ever since then it s been getting better and more consistent with longer stretches of time. We are not even two weeks since our visit with Dr. Beckman and today we ve done more breast-feeding than pumping!
Dr. Beckman and associates are professional, friendly, and prompt. Her process is backed by science and research, and carried out with kindness and compassion. I would highly recommend this office. Baby and I are forever grateful.
