Our daughter was at AAG for 8 months, and we're very pleased with the experience. She has anxiety and depression, and had been exhibiting suicidal behavior, aggression, and school refusal. We had great therapists at home, but she was unable to put in place the systems offered to her. Hospitalization did nothing but temporarily stabilize. So we sent her first to a Wilderness therapy program (also in Black Mountain area), and then to AAG. The reason we felt Boarding School was necessary was that we needed to see her truly take in and practice the skills she just learned in Wilderness so that those new practices and ways of thinking would become a part of her. We needed her to go to school as well-- and learn to self-motivate. So time is important. The staff, the school, the campus are all great. My child missed a whole year of school prior to AAG, and she's celebrating 365 days of no missed school today. She's back on track and at grade level, and doing amazingly well. She was very happy to come home, but also misses her friends and the staff at AAG. So thank you AAG.
