My girlfriend and I had filled out an application ...

My girlfriend and I had filled out an application for a Houston flood rescue kitten at a local pet store. We were told by the pet store that there would be a 48 hour hold while our application was either approved or denied. Upon speaking with the staff at RMFR, my girlfriend was treated as if she were an imbecile who knew nothing of cat care while simply trying to acquiesce their policies on adoption. We wanted to make sure our kitten would be a match for said kitten at the pet store, all to no avail. We also wanted to see if the brother/sister cat duo needed to be adopted together. I am not one to split up sibling or bonded animals for selfish reasons. We ended up going in this evening to pick up the kitten, as we both had worked earlier in the day and were unable to come in any sooner, and were accused of not wanting the cat because we didn't come in ASAP. We were told our application was "ripped up" and "destroyed." I am so upset by this! I have had both cats and dogs growing up and have been a vegan and animal lover my entire life! I have never received such disrespect when it came to customer service or pet care. The worst part is the animals suffer due to poor management and unhealthy communication. I have faith most employees at RMFR are wonderful, but Carrie was atrocious and wasn't the least bit helpful in wanting to to make sure the adoption was a healthy or successful one for all parties involved. Very, very unfortunate. I sure hope they can find someone else to work adoption cases in the future, because this was not handled in a healthy or loving manner. Her reputation certainly proceeds her in the pet care world.
