Alice Ly Review of The Ranch Restaurant and Saloo...

We came here for OCRW Menu and waited just a little bit in the lobby since we were early. Super plush leather seats made the wait really enjoyable.
The whole restaurant has a sexy masculine vibe that's comforting and relaxing actually.
We were seated in a half circle booth all to ourselves (2) so we were happy.
The complimentary bread flower wheel is SO AMAZING.
Absolutely loved the "petal" that had cranberries in it. We had 2 of these :D
Here's what we got from the menu:
**APPETIZERS**
---Laura Chenel Goat Cheese Raviolis --- I usually don't voluntarily get ravioli because they make me full and are too rich for me. But I got this based on the waitress' recommendation and HOLY COW [INSERT BABBLE HERE] !!
Beautiful colors, wasn't rich at all, super smooth and savory, and punches of sweetness from the raisins. I love different flavors mixed together like that and we were very impressed with this dish.
---Butternut Squash Soup--- Oh my this was good too. Super creamy, with juicy shrimps in it. I was very excited for the rest of the meal because of these 2 excellent appetizers.
**ENTREES**
---Vancouver Island Skuna Bay Salmon--- This dampened my excitement a bit. The fish had too much char so I was distracted by the slightly burnt taste even though it was really tender. I enjoyed the black quinoa though.
---Black Angus Culotte Steak--- We had to return this the first time because it was done Medium instead of Medium Rare. The waitress and the Manager was gracious about it. The fixed steak was lovely, and was a definite winner over the salmon.
**DESSERTS**
---PBJ & Milk Chocolate Bar--- This was a really cute presentation but unfortunately too sweet for me. My BF liked it a lot though!
---Rustic Blueberry Crostada--- This was more my alley. Something flaky, something smooth, something sweet, something creamy. It was like a flaky blueberry donut dressed up :D
My BF enjoyed their red wine cab too that I'm too much of a wine newbie to enjoy.
Overall The Ranch is a great place for a special occasion :)
