I am having knee surgery in two weeks so I visited and got a tour of three separate sub-acute and long-term nursing facilities close to where I live. I will be going to one of them for rehab following my knee surgery. I will be there for approximately 10 to 20 days.

I toured Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, United Methodist Wicke Health Care Center and Maefair Health Care Center. Of the three, I chose Maefair for several reasons. The number one reason is that it's clean and the private room offered to me is large with a recliner and private bath. The physical therapy room is fairly large and I got to see four of the physical therapist working with patients. The facility has undergone some recent cosmetics inside including the removal of carpeting in the hallways and replacing it with a hard surface. This is smart because as we know carpeting holds bacteria. The staff all seemed happy with their job and all were smiling. This is also important to me. I give this facility 4 stars based on first impressions and will review it once more after I've been discharged, or maybe during my stay since they have wi-fi and I'm on my laptop a lot.
