I went to have my baby checked at 17 weeks. They don t send you to labor and delivery they keep you in the ER. After waiting forever the nurse looked for the heartbeat and said she found it, but seemed very uncertain with what she was looking for. The dr who was so rude to me finally came and said he would check my cervix but he seemed absolutely annoyed and unconcerned so I told him as long as he felt comfortable with finding the heartbeat I would just follow up with my obgyn in the morning. He discharged me and reported to my obgyn that I refused a ultrasound which he NEVER offered. The next morning I followed up at my regular obgyn where they discovered my baby had died at least 2 weeks prior. So explain to me how you don t have nurses that can use Doppler s in the ER yet you don t send your pregnant patients to labor and delivery? Explain to me what exactly you heard. Also once sent to labor and delivery the next day the dr was very pushy about how he wanted me to deliver my dead son! But fortunately you had one very compassionate and kind nurse who helped get me to UVA.
