***I just spoke with Nick Ballas and he was able to have our reservation cancelled and our card will be credited the full amount. I am happy that there was a resolution to this, as I feel as if we gave them plenty of time. I appreciate Nick's friendly and quick help in assisting me once I heard back from him. He did make me aware that he was not in the office when I called, and did return my call. Problem resolved, and his help is much appreciated.

We booked an overnight stay for August 4th to pick our son up from a Summer Study Program at Princeton University! We found out last week that his Marching Band Camp falls during the same time, so we had to cancel the Princeton Program due to educational purposes. Essentially, if he did not go to Band Camp, he would be kicked out of Marching Band.
I contacted Princeton and received a refund and Courtyard Marriott for our trip up to Princeton(non-cancel/non-refundable rate) and received a full refund with nothing but understanding.
I then contacted Nassau Inn hoping all would be okay here as well, but no it was not. Yes, our rate was a non-cancel/non-refundable rate, but we are giving them 3+ months to re-book the room! I had to go back and forth with them via email, as nobody would take my phone call. I have left voicemail messages for a man by the name of Nick Ballas but have not received a phone call back.
I find this to be poor business practice especially since our cancellation was completely out of our control and due to educational reasons for our son! They tried to tell me it was a law in NJ that they could not cancel my reservation. I then asked how Courtyard Marriott was able to do it with no problem, and they then backtracked and said since they already had my money they could not book the room. I was willing to even pay a fee for the cancellation and refund, but they will not budge. Again, poor business practice and pure laziness on their part, and based on other reviews I am seeing, this is not their first go-round on taking money for rooms not occupied. If I could attach the email string, I would for you to see just how poor their customer service really is. They spoke in circles and just kept repeating themselves over and over again.
