I avoided this place when I lived in New York because I thought it was just a cult of personality for Eddie Huang but I finally decided to go when visiting with a bao loving friend and boy am I glad I did. These are probably the best bao I've ever had. I got a Chairman Bao, Birdhaus Bao (spicy) and Fried Fish Bao and they were all delicious. The pork belly in the chairman bao was perfectly cooked - melt in your mouth tender without being too crisp. The chicken in the birdhaus was legitimately juicy and delicious even without sauce I would have enjoyed it. The taro fries as a side were also a smart choice - they work really well although the spice dust they put on top of them is a little overwhelming.

The space is definitely small and crowded but they have an excellent turnover so your food is always fresh. This is a must try for anyone visiting NYC who likes bao.
