Patrick Logan Review of Grumpy's Too

I was new to the area and trying out the different bars to find my new local hangout. When I first went to Grumpy's it showed good promise. I wasn't crazy about the smoking, but I got over that. It is a bar. The food was hit or miss. The ruben was one of the best I've had in a while. The chicken nachos were not good at all. The famous Watsoni was just avg cheese dip. The Fried Green Olives were pretty good. The panko crust was good and not over cooked The juke box was on and the atmosphere seemed good. They have a pool table and some dart boards. The bath room was pretty clean. The decor seemed dated and from the 80's.
One thing I noticed and didn't like my first visit was they don't give you a receipt. They would just say you owe this much. I went with it because the price sounded about right. I went about 5 times and each time the amount was about the same $20 - $25. Then one night I only had around 4 beers and didn't eat. The bartender/manager yells out I owed $32. That didn't sound right, so I asked how many I had. He said 7. I wasn't going to argue with him since I had no way to really prove what I had. I just wrote on my charge receipt to stop over charging or something like that. Honestly, I never thought I would go back. I decided to try again and maybe just pay cash per drink or ask after each one how many I had. I sat at a table and a waitress helped me. She was really good and fast. After my first beer, the bartender/manager came to my table with my charge receipt I left the last time. He confronted me about it and was aggressive with asking why I would say that. I just felt I didn't have that many but nothing I could do about it since they don't give a break down of what you have. So he again said I had 7 beers, but he did admit I wasn't the first person to question him on orders. When the waitress came back I asked her how much the beers were and if that was the regular price each day. She told me it was $3.50 and that was the normal price. So, 7 beers x $3.50 equals $24.50. I was a little upset now because even with his math of 7 beers he over charged me (I still think I only had 4). After tabbing out with her and giving her a tip and I asked her if I could speak with him or the owner. A few min later instead of coming around the bar like he did before, he yells as he is walking towards me saying what do I want now. I explained the math to him and he couldn't give me an answer on why is was $7.5 more than 7 beers. He just said it had to be taxes. Really? He then went on to say he is always right and the customer is always wrong. It's called Grumpy's for a reason. We got into it a bit, but again I knew I couldn't prove anything so it just wasn't worth my time. I will take my money and tips else where. This same bartender ( I think his name is Joshua), I watch him throw out multiple people over just a few weeks. I think he is running some kind of scam there. I have reported him to the local police for fraud. If you do go there, I would recommend you don't just assume you will be charged correctly. Pay out after each order, so you don't get screwed. I recommend The Tavern Sports Grill JJ's, Markham Street Grill & Pub or Khalil s Pub & Grill over in this area. Way better customer service at these places.
