I have decided not to shop any longer at Eastside ...

I have decided not to shop any longer at Eastside Marketplace. The final nail in the coffin was an experience I had a couple of weeks ago, the third such experience in less than a month. I was overcharged at the deli counter. The advertised price (posted right in front of the product that I wanted) was three times less than what I was charged. When I brought this to the attention of the deli worker, another Deli worker popped in and just blasted me about how this wasn't her problem and that she would charge me whatever have been programmed into the computer. When I protested and said that I had to be charged whatever was advertised, she went on and on and said I'm going to get the manager. I have to be honest I was absolutely dumbfounded that an employee would speak to a customer that way. I wasn't rude. I wasn't yelling. I turned to another worker and said "What did she say?" I heard her. It was just that I couldn't believe what I was experiencing and hearing coming out of this young woman's mouth. She wasn't even the person who waited on me. The department manager came over and I spoke to her explaining the situation. She told the deli workers that yes, I needed to be charged whatever was advertised and if there was a mistake they would correct it in the computer so it wouldn't happen again.

As I said this was the third time in less than a month that this overcharging happened. I wrote an email to the store manager, Mr. Johnson, and I have yet to hear back from him. It's been several weeks, so that tells me really all I need to know about Eastside Marketplace these days.

I've been shopping more and more at local stores. Yes they are pricier because they're smaller and really can't afford to buy in the bulk quantities that big chain stores do. I'd rather spend a little bit more and have a decent and pleasant shopping experience than put up with loudmouth, ill-trained staff.
So, I am done with Eastside Marketplace. Dave's, Whole Foods, Urban Greens Co-op on Cranston Street, even PriceRite all have better trained personnel. And that's where my money is going.
