I became very disillusioned with Arbor Animal Clin...

I became very disillusioned with Arbor Animal Clinic after my last visit, on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.. I will NEVER go back to this clinic. My female Papillon was pregnant and a large portion of one of her puppies' placental sacs had come out of her. However, she was not in labor, which worried me terribly. I brought her into see Dr. Kennedy that afternoon, and she gave my Papillon 2 doses of oxytocin, to stimulate her labor contractions. The oxytocin did not work, and Dr. Kennedy recommended a C-Section. She told me all the puppies could already be dead inside my Papillon at this point. Dr. Kennedy had quoted me $1,000 for a C-section at the Arbor clinic, but when I talked to her on the phone later in the afternoon, the price for the C-section had risen to $1,800. She told me a C-section in conjunction with a spay would be easier and cheaper, and I asked her to go ahead and do this, to save my dog. I requested this at about 4:45 in the afternoon, and the Arbor Clinic did not close until 6:00 pm. Dr. Kennedy told me she could NOT do the C-Section and spay, because that would mean she would have to STAY PAST 6:00 pm, when the Clinic closed. I begged her to go ahead and do the procedure, and told Dr. Kennedy I would pay her EXTRA MONEY for any overtime. Dr. Kennedy called me back and told me the Arbor Clinic's director, Dr. Hartwell, would NOT ALLOW her to stay overtime past 6:00 pm in order to do this procedure. It did not matter to Dr. Hartwell that my female dog was in distress, that it was not even 5:00 pm when I had begged Dr. Kennedy to go ahead and have this procedure done, that one of her puppies' placental sac was clearly emerging from her womb already, and that she may actually have 5 dead puppies inside her at this time. NONE OF THAT MATTERED TO DR. HARTWELL. The ONLY THING that MATTERED to Dr. Hartwell was that HIS STAFF HAD TO GO HOME BY 6:00 PM. I even talked to Dr. Hartwell on the phone myself, and he would NOT keep his clinic open PAST 6:00 pm that day. That afternoon when I had talked to Dr. Hartwell BEFORE 5:00 PM, it was made abundantly clear to me what Dr. Hartwell's REAL PRIORITIES are.

Those priorities are certainly NOT the health and welfare of my pregnant dog, who was having a very difficult time delivering her pups and was clearly and quite VISIBLY in LABOR DISTRESS. I was so angry and disgusted I could not believe this. I will NEVER, EVER visit the Arbor Animal Clinic again, and I strongly recommend that you find someplace else to take your pet.
