John Stefani Review of Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagar...

Here for Pool and Spa convention. My coworker did not have a great experience with her room and front desk staff made things worse while trying to resolve it. Mine was so-so. The hotel did upgrade us both at no charge for the second night which went better. For me that is. So I'll keep this review restricted to my own experiences.
Our first night was in the middle tower on the 12th floor. Very noisy and certain details of maintenance were clearly not observed. Door closure devices were so old that they did not work anymore so every time someone came or left a room the door slammed loudly. Not a great thing when you have convention people coming back at all hours of the night. Water pressure was weak. Drains gurgle everytime someone else in the tower flush the toilet or ran water. TV reception was poor. Only a few channels worked. Furniture and bed was nice though.
We got promoted to the deluxe rooms in the North Tower. So our second night was much better. It was all so much quieter there so we were able to get a good night sleep.
The breakfast buffet is delicious and filling though I'm sick of seeing powdered eggs at hotel buffets. I understand real eggs turn green in the metal chafer dishes but they can also be put in ceramic crocks to avoid that problem. Wait staff are probably the best in the restaurant sector, and I don't say that lightly.
All the staff were friendly and attentive actually. A minor issue in my room involving a non-functional lamp was fixed within the hour by a friendly maintenance person.
All rooms appear to be equipped with a fridge, coffee maker, safe, ironing board and other amenities to make your stay more convenient. Upgraded room also included a jetted tub and a fantastic view of the skylon tower, falls and casino as seen in the attached photo. Some of the furniture was in a little bit rough shape though.
Area for improvement: during high occupancy periods have most of the 6 or 7 terminals at front desk staffed. Not 2-3. There's no reason someone's stay should start with a 45 minute lineup to check-in!
Also, please keep the vending machines on each floor reasonably stocked and ice machines operating.
Overall I'd stay again ...but would spring for a premium room. I'm also not sure this qualifies as a 4-star hotel.
