Wonderful place to take children to workout with you. Staff greets you upon entry and are usually friendly. Their kids activities are usually good with decent instructors. I also love all the group classes that are available throughout the day. Facility is clean and kept up.

However, I rate the Ventura YMCA with a 3 star, because their swim team is half par. Instructors just tell the kids what to do with very minimal direction and/or correction on technique. If you are looking to improve your child s swimming technique for future competitions, this is not the place for it. However, if you want them conditioned, then yes take them here.

I was hoping for more technical instructions for my son and have voiced my concerns on several occasions, especially since I have to pay for my son to be on the swim team. Yet, their has been minimal change. I guess I should not expect to much considering they hire young adults to instruct the kids, whom are probably just paid minimum wage.
