Visiting for the first time, the atmosphere inside...

Visiting for the first time, the atmosphere inside is lovely. Glass wine bottles surround comforting booth tables in a very rustic, homey feel. Having very dim lighting inside, it made the restaurant seem much more chilly inside than I'm sure it could have been, albeit below zero outside.

I enjoyed the spinach and arugula salad; at first it seemed it was lacking flavor from the vinaigrette, but once I snagged a sliver of granny smith apple? It was amazing. Walnuts and goat cheese decorated the the salad, adding texture and depth.

Well-smoked meats seem to be difficult to come by in Rutland restaurants, so I will add that the pulled pork sandwich was a wonderful surprise. However, the slaw was so delicious but lacking on the sandwich, so the next time I visit I will have the cole-slaw as my side instead of the sweet potato fries.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Reminds me of a spruced-up sports bar more than a fine dining establishment, even though the waiters are in ties and button-down shirts.
